Artist Moy Mackay, in Scotland, has created a beautiful piece of impressionistic art. The image is so lovely that we kept the puzzle intact for four days after finishing it before breaking it apart. That's where the positive comments end. I was not sure what the term "felted art" meant when I bought the puzzle, and, surely, a better description is warranted--from any source. I thought perhaps each puzzle piece had a little bit of fuzz on top. No. Ms. Mackay paints on felt, which leaves the colors, as they lead or bleed into each other, fuzzy and indistinct. This lack of clear, crisp color makes the puzzle difficult to work. The black in the sky and the very dark green hillsides are especially challenging. This is the second of three Heye puzzles I have worked with very dark colors. This Mackay puzzle and the last one, just completed, a photograph of an elephant and waterfall by Dutch-born artist Marsel Van Oosten, I will NEVER recreate for a second time. Heye chooses excellent art, but I must question the choice by Heye's creative director in selecting art with such difficult dark portions. I know I shall never buy another "felted art" puzzle again manufactured by Heye.
Beautiful puzzle...difficult sky...lots of blue!!
Beautiful scene and quite the challenge thanks to texture and style of the image.
Beautiful and challenging
