Sure we love to sell puzzles, gifts, etc and hear about the recipients. Galaxy Puzzles is not a money making machine whose only goal is to be rich. It would be a rather shallow business if it were. It is a small private business that is listed as a Registered Small Business and a Women-Owned Small Business as well as both as Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business and a SBA-Certified Small Disadvantaged Business. Those facts are verifiable online if you wish to check it out. Galaxy Puzzles was started on $500 and a wing and prayer and through a lot of hard work has grown and become more established over the years while still striving for more. Due to the past, Galaxy Puzzles understands small and start up and also understand difficult times. It is for that reason and a love of our neighbors and community that we choose to give back.
There is an investment in the community in which Galaxy Puzzles is located and at times, beyond. Donations are made; often anonymously. Recently a large lot of new pens was given to a teacher at a local school district to distribute to students in need. We sometimes get back open, used or damaged puzzles. While we can't put many of them together we know seniors at a nearby assisted living center that are delighted so they get donated to them to help pass the time. Galaxy Puzzles donates a car full of new items to a local organization at least once a year, sometimes more often. These are products we are not likely to be able to sell for a variety of reasons. Sometimes we just make an oops on purchase decisions, sometimes well, who knows? Regardless we can give them to others and they are delighted to make good use of them. Below are just a few of the products that were donated.
Today was one of those days. I contacted my contact at a local non-profit and arranged for a drop off to be made. It is win-win. Galaxy Puzzles moves inventory and can focus on what works for us. They obtain, at no cost, toys, games and puzzles for all ages that will help them out during the holiday season since they sponsor many families in need in our community. Below you can see the car stuffed full of boxes of gifts to be. Next to that is a photo of Lindsey; an employee of Jewish Family Services and the place where all of these items will be placed into willing hands during the 2017 holiday season.
Galaxy Puzzles is the result of hard work, day in and day out, but that is not all of who we are. We are members of a community whether that be local or on a wider scale. We are ready, willing and able to give back to help others. It makes the world a better place and makes us feel good.
